Joey, rescued as a hatchling, joined the aquarium family in January 2006 and was successfully released in September 2008. In the two years Joey lived at the aquarium, he gained 88 lbs and grew 8.5 inches in length. During his last physical, he weighed 117 lbs.

The aquarium staff work with other facilities to teach the loggerheads how to identify natural prey such as blue crabs, horseshoe crabs, and whelks.
